Feng Shui for Today

Creativity, Kids & The Joy of Life
By Chris Blanchard

In mapping energy flows in the home, Feng Shui locates the area for children’s chi in the same place as creativity and happiness. Why are these in the same spot? This is the principle of creative love. It reminds us that the true nature of life is happiness, joy and creativity. The physical expression of this is children, and it is also the joy and child-like quality we need to recapture as adults. We need to feed our true nature with creative, playful activity based in bliss.

The Children/Creativity spot in the home is the center area of the entire right side of the structure—the center of the right-hand wall. It is also the center right side of any room in the house, especially in children’s bedrooms, art studios, craft rooms and the like.

To support happiness and playfulness in your life, we want to enhance this area with a little Feng Shui attention. There are many ways to do this, depending on the kind of result you are looking for.

Metal is the element that supports this area. Therefore, metal wind chimes or a mirror are great choices. Any decorative metal objects: gold, silver, brass or anything metallic in color with help to lift the chi.

If you want to spark your creativity, hang some original art on this wall. It’s wonderful if you have something you have created and would like to do more of. Obviously, this also would be the perfect place for an easel or craft table. Setting aside a space for creativity and play allows the chi to gather and support this kind of activity.

To activate your playfulness, how about a fun photo of yourself as a kid? Pick one that makes you laugh or reflects a truly carefree time in your life. You can also put your kayak, backpack or skis in the middle right wall of the garage to promote more fun.

Being playful with your Feng Shui enhancements goes right along with what you are energetically seeding. Wonderful items for use in the garden in the Children/Creativity spot are fun metal sculptures found at plant nurseries. The color white is also a plus in this area, so plant white flowers. The swing set or trampoline can get the “fun” chi moving.

Do you just simply have the blues? Lift your spirits by doing some Feng Shui in Children/Creativity will help lighten your mood on an ongoing basis. Use any of these cures and solutions to strengthen innovation, vision and originality in your life. The vibrant chi of joy, playfulness and creativity vibrant are essential for a balanced life.
