I'm sure everyone has heard the news this week that their astrological sun sign has supposedly now changed as a 13th constellation has been found. HOGWASH!

Be wary of the news media folks because if this is the quality of the reporting we are now getting all of the news should be suspect!

So here's the real scoop in a nut shell- you are the same sun sign you have always been and this is why.

For over 2,000 years Western astrologers have been using what is called the "Tropical Zodiac" system of astrology which is based upon Earth's seasons and not the stars in the sky. The zodiac of the seasons divides the year into twelve equal 30-degree sections. (In your astrology chart these would be known as the "houses").  If you look up into the night sky you will not see the constellations neatly laid out in an equal 30-degree arc. The relevancy of the constellations to the Tropical Zodiac in this situation is nil. End of debate. A quick look at Wikipedia would have solved the mystery!

There are however other systems of  astrology, especially popular in Japan, that do use the constellations as their base for their astrological zodiac and so "Ophiuchus" is included but this is definitely not the case here in America.

The interesting reaction though, for all the mainstream hype about astrology being bunk, was there were sure a lot of people very upset over this news!  It has only been in very recent times that astrology and astronomy have been separated from each other.  Throughout human history they have been treated as one science. 

In many parts of the world astrology is very respected and used extensively though maybe a bit more undercover since certain circles do not want to accept that it is a very useful tool.

   

Okay, so we are back on track with our sun sign. Then what was all the hoopla about? Here's my take. Ophiuchus,  the 13th constellation, is surfacing into our consciousness right now as it supposedly relates to the Mayan calendar's date of Dec. 21th, 2012 and the galactic alignment

Folks, we have been in the "galactic alignment" since the nineties and in fact the most "exact" alignment happened in 1998!  The Mayan calendar also continues after 2012 into 2013, 2014 and beyond. So let us not be taken up in fear of this approaching date.

Are there intense changes happening on the planet? Yes, of course there are and if you look back in history there have been many periods of intense earth changes. This time, however, it looks like the immense population of humans and our technology is contributing to the changes on a large scale. So instead of being gripped by fear of the ending of the world let's take some action to help all of us weather the changes, so humans and all of Earth's creatures can survive.

Each and everyone one of us can project feelings of LOVE & HARMONY to our neighbors and to all in the world thereby creating a world of PEACE.  When we stop warring amongst our selves we will stop using extraordinary amounts of our resources on destruction and be able to create a place where every person and every creature can exist without polluting the environment we all share.

Let's turn our attention away from the doomsday hype and the hopes that someone "out there", Jesus, aliens or whatever will save us. We all need to see that we are the one's who need to do the saving.   Everyone's attention needs to be on what we can all do now to change the road we are walking down.

When the media tries to get you down with the doom and gloom take ACTION! See where you can be the counterbalance to the fear. Turn to your neighbor and your community and see where you can be of service. Those who hunger for power and greed want us to be afraid.  It is the best form of control. Do you want to live in the fear and hide or stand in the light of love and begin the change towards a better world?

You have a choice. Choose Well.
